Solar protection superior to cardboard eclipse glasses
The Sol-Obs 14 is not an ordinary pair of eclipse glasses. Its grade-14 protane glass filter — the same used in professional welding masks — offers optical protection superior to the polymer films found in standard cardboard glasses. Protane glass is unaffected by scratches, bending, or impacts: where cardboard glasses can deteriorate during transport or careless handling, the Sol-Obs 14 fully retains its filtering properties.

The Sol-Obs 14 carries the seal of Retina France, a public-interest association whose mission is precisely the protection and preservation of eyesight. This is not a simple stamp of approval: Retina France selected this product for the quality of its filtration and the safety it offers the observer.
Ideal for children
The disc shape covering the entire face is a decisive advantage for younger viewers. Unlike conventional glasses, which a child can remove or peek over, the Sol-Obs 14 is held with both hands against the face and covers the entire eye area. The Sol-Obs 14 was distributed during previous eclipses, notably the one on August 11, 1999, visible from France. The units available today are old, but the protane glass filter does not age: unlike a plastic film, which can degrade, glass retains its properties indefinitely. A Sol-Obs 14 in good condition is just as effective today as on day one.

Bring both hands together around the disc, hold it against your temples, and look directly at the sun. Unlimited use. Store away from impacts to preserve the glass.
